Children of Eden

Friends invited me to see the musical, Children of Eden at The Main Stage theater at SDSU.  I'd never heard of this musical, which is based on the biblical stories of Adam and Eve and Noah and the Ark.  And I'd never seen my friend perform; her performance was super impressive, her singing was good and her diction very good!  (I so dislike not being able to understand what is being sung!)  Her acting was good enough to allow me focus on her character and not the fact that I knew her!

I learned that this theater is newly renovated and making us the
first audience to use it!

Thanks for inviting me, Sarah and Jason!

So nice to listen to this very good orchestra!

Two other folks that I was quite impressed with were the music director Robert Meffe and a tenor, Justin Brill; both Broadway veterans-both very professional!

Newport House of the Lord

Maren invited me to go to the Newport temple with her!

The person whose name I took to the temple was Hattie May Joesink.
She was an artist and died in 1904 at age 29.  A small painting of roses that she did has been passed down in our family; my sister inherited it from mom. Hattie died from cirrhosis of the liver; I don't know
whether she was an alcoholic or not, but another main
cause of her disease could be hepatitis.

The temple was a beautiful shade of rosy pink-different than most temples, which are usually (but not always) white. Looked up the exterior material of this temple and found that it is Salisbury pink granite from North Carolina!

Don't know what it is about the temple and blue skies, but the sky was such a vibrant royal blue today! Really spectacular!

Point Loma Trunk or Treat

Tracie and her team did an outstanding job organizing and running this year's Trunk or Treat for the ward!  Very original and unique decor, that's for sure!  Folks were socializing as fast as they could and the kids had a blast!  Well done!

My favorite decoration of the night-Zombie-Bishop-head-in-a-jar!

Not sure what Ammon's costume is, but his smile was cute!

Lots of blue and lots of pink!

Tried to order a burger, but it never came!

Get it?

Partial Annular Solar Eclipse

Lucky for us Tom has a welding helmet so that we could safely view the solar eclipse.  The helmet had to have a shade requirement rating of 12 or above and Tom's was rated a 13.

This photo was taken thru the view screen of Tom's welding helmet-pretty cool!

Wordle

We like to play Wordle as a family, usually right after lunch.

Our unique spin on starting the game is the first word-guess we make has to have something to do with what's going on around us.  We ate lunch at Costco today and were surrounded by a large group of missionaries on their personal day or P-day.  We talked with them for a long time and when we finished lunch, we knew we had to find a 5-letter word having to do with the missionaries to start our game!

We almost went with the word "Bible", but the double "b" in it isn't a smart Wordle choice to start.  We settled on the word "share" and went on from there. The sequence of words that followed had us all looking at each other in something like awe.  I'm excited to share this!

Share-The missionaries' purpose is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Hurry-Always a sense of urgency to share Christ's message.

Thurl-As a name, it means, "strong or mighty fort"

Truth-They bring the world His truth!

Even Wordle can be a tool to share the good news!

Bringing Home the Jeep

Stopped by the Seven Magic Mountains on the way home (again).

Very cool weather with highs in the low 60's today compared to yesterday where the highs were in the 90's!  Storm's passing through.

This new Jeep is so pretty!

I especially love this pic of the Jeep with the stormy sky and the mini Magic Mountains in the background.

Finally made it home!  Very grateful to Heavenly Father for a safe,
happy trip, with the added blessing of having some extra alone-time
with Tom 💖

We have this Christmas ornament displayed in our home year round
and I wonder, is it the reason Tom got us a bright blue Jeep???
