The Bridges Mansion

This mansion was built by one of the
descendants of the inventor of the ball bearing.
Two sisters inherited it and divided the house in half
and made the one mansion into two separate houses.
Emi and I went to the estate sale held here and took
pics around the house.  I like the extra wide doorways that
someone informed me were built wide to
accommodate coffins which were laid in state in
the homes back then.

I bought this cool crocheted doiley.

Emi's Cell Model Pillow

Emi made this pillow all by herself, I just sewed up the opening
left from stuffing the pillow; good job Emi girl!

Temple Walk 2012

Kids were challenged to do the temple walk, a walk of approximately 15 miles from the stake center to the temple.  The walk was supposed to represent life with its ups and downs, but we wanted them to always try to have the temple and thus our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ as their ever present and ultimate goal to be able to return to them with their family.  Not certain the kids got that out of the walk, but they sure had a good time and did a wonderful job walking!

Here is our group right before the
1st of 5 aid stations looking all
fresh, early in the morning.

Coming down the hill right before the
5th aid station still looking good!

Participants were given a number,
I think we totaled about 120 or so.

Pizza enough for all at the end!

Here is our goal--the temple

Beautiful day, beautiful San Diego temple,
beautiful Spirit!

The tired group! Had to explain to the kids
what "barking dogs" meant.

Yay!  Emi finished!

Full Moon/Halloween

This is what the full moon looks
like setting at 6:00 am!

My favorite Halloween picture
of Emi with a giant rat decoration!

Tired Emi!
Can't complain too much being able
to trick or treat in shorts and flip-flops!
We did miss Kimo, who opted not to go
with us; too much homework even on
Halloween!

A Little Bit of Band and Lots of Halloween

Kimo in his band uniform-V stands
for Vanguard
Emi did her own makeup for her dog costume

This is her puppy, persuasive look.

Robyn was in charge of the Trunk
or Treat/Chili Cook-off this year;
I was her minion.  Photo opp. here
in the foyer.

Ready to go!  Let's party!

Somebody's back got a workout placing
all these pumpkins so nicely!

#60

I got to help out the photographer taking
the football teams' photos, so I got a
sneak peek of Kimo's photo!

Before and After Emi

Emi sure has changed since she
first got her braces!  She had braces
on for almost four years!
Way to persevere, Emi!

Hot Saturday

It was super hot a couple of Saturdays ago
and so Emi and I, along with many others,
stayed by the water to try and stay cool.
Kimo had an all day band practice in the heat
so he couldn't come with us and Tom worked on
his truck brakes; he doesn't like sand anyway.

Point Loma off in the distance with the waves
churning up the sand.

Hotel Del Coronado

Emi eyeballing a rather large wall of water

 Emi is fearless in the water;
a little too fearless, in my opinion!
We both got tossed around quite a bit
today, with the waves being so big.

Reminiscing

When Emi was learning to write, she started off by
only writing the first letter of each word in her sentence.
Can you tell what this says?
"I made this for you Patty, love Emi Patty"
Emi was texting before her time!

So cute!
